Marie Curie and QDTS Construction
October 10th saw the QDTS Construction team take part in a project which was less to do with building developments and more to do with building community links. As Platinum sponsors for the Marie Curie West Midland Brain Game Event, they pitted their general knowledge against a number of other quiz teams made up from West Midlands professionals.
The prestigious black-tie fundraising event takes place every year and is an important part of Marie Curie’s fundraising calendar. The charity itself provides support and care for families living with terminal illness. Be it through specialist nurses, hospices or trained volunteers and advisers, this wonderful charity touches the lives of many, providing practical information and support when it is needed most.
The event, which was held at the ICC, raised a staggering £169, 500 in total – an achievement of which all of the participants were very proud. This impressive fund boost for Marie Curie West Midlands was the sum of entry tickets, live & silent auctions and, of course, the Sponsorship packages such as that taken up by QDTS.
QDTS are a multi-disciplined, main contractor and work on projects such as: –
- New build housing
- City centre apartments
- Commercial developments
- New build residential care homes
- Development and fit outs
So, whilst general knowledge may not be high on their ‘must have’ skills list, they do understand the important role which successful businesses such as theirs can play for charities which desperately need support. It’s more than just a case of ticking the Corporate Social Responsibility box for QDTS though; they chose the charity as it is one which has touched the lives of so many – and one which any single one of us might call upon at any point in the future. The fact that the team had such a great time whilst helping to raise the funds is simply a bonus!
As Managing Director of QDTS Construction, Terry Benson, told us:
“The team and I had a fantastic evening at The Brain Game Event, but there was also a serious note to the night. Marie Curie is a charity which we admire immensely, and we were all a little humbled by being able to do just a little bit towards raising the kind of funds that they will be able to put to such great use.”
