Midlands-based main contractor, QDTS Construction, and developers Volume.Property and Bosworth Properties have broken ground at Bridge Street Studios – a new build, 70 bed student accommodation scheme located on Bridge Street West in Central Birmingham.

Situated between two plots that have been granted approval for residential development and opposite a large retirement residential complex, the scheme has been designed by Hickman & Smith Architects.

The local area contains a diverse range of building uses, sizes and heights and is experiencing something of a renaissance as the neighbouring commercial and industrial spaces are renovated and converted.

Director of Volume.Property, Anthony Laville, responsible for bringing the Bridge Street Studios development to the market commented:

“What a milestone it is to be ploughing ahead with our second student project in Central Birmingham this year, despite the challenges we all face on a global level. We’re providing edgy and stylish student housing that students in our home city will appreciate.”

QDTS Construction also took the opportunity to announce their innovative partnership with Home-Fresh® – a new technology that can be discreetly incorporated into construction materials and finishes to prevent the development of mould and odour-causing bacteria.

“We are delighted to have secured this high-quality student accommodation project and to introduce our new partnership with Home-Fresh®. At a time when we are all very aware of the spread of bacteria and the impact of our home and working environments on our wellbeing, this is a technology that will add real value and benefit to this project and to the long-term health of the end users.”
